A cool but sunny Yorkshire day, a teary-eyed first look, and singing waiters during the wedding breakfast — Lucy and Jamie’s wedding at Owen Wedding Barn had it all.
Some weddings just feel like a big warm hug (do you know that feeling?) — and this was one of them. From the moment we arrived at Owen House Wedding Barn (one of our absolute fave venues in Cheshire), we knew we were in for a special day. It was cool but sunny with bright blue skies, the kind of light that's perfect for relaxed, natural wedding photography. In the evening we were hit with some heavy showers, but the Lucy, Jamie and their guests embraced the weather and continued to celebrate well into the night!!

Lucy and Jamie are the kind of couple you instantly want to be friends with — laid back, full of love, and surrounded by the loveliest people. Lucy got ready with her five gorgeous bridesmaids, and there was such a buzz in the room: nerves, excitement, and so much laughter. Once the music started there were a few dance moves too. We even got told to turn the music down as the groom and guests arrived!!
Jamie was across the courtyard in a funky room with games and a few beers surrounded by his friends and family.
One of the most emotional parts of the day was the first look with Lucy’s dad, John. Lucy had told us how important this moment was to her, and honestly? It was beautiful. John absolutely lost it (in the best way), and we may have had something in our eyes too 🥹. It’s always such a privilege to quietly capture those big-feeling moments.

The ceremony was full of joy, and the barn looked amazing with all its rustic charm. Lucy’s mum Sue and Jamie’s parents, Pauline and James, were beaming with pride. Simon, the best man, kept us all laughing, and there were a few happy tears dotted about the place.
Lucy and Jamie’s boys — Joshua and Callum — were brilliant all day. It was really important to Lucy and Jamie, that the kids felt relaxed, happy and not overwhelmed by everything going on. And they absolutely did! Joshua, who is football mad, even braved the pouring rain for a kickabout outside. Both boys spent the day running about with friends and just enjoying being part of it all in their own way. It was so lovely to see the day shaped around what mattered most to the couple — not just the big moments, but all the little ones too.
Now, let’s talk about the singing waiters. Operatic. Singing. Waiters. Just when everyone thought they were settling in for a relaxed wedding breakfast, they were up on their feet, belting out tunes with their napkins in the air! The energy was electric — honestly, some of our favourite candid photos from the day came from that moment. Guests dancing, singing, and fully letting go — exactly the kind of vibe we love to capture.

We snuck off with Lucy and Jamie for a few couple portraits just as the light was softening — nothing too posey, just the two of them enjoying a quiet moment together before the party really got going.
We left with full hearts and full memory cards — the best kind of day. If your idea of the perfect wedding is something relaxed, joyful, and full of real connection (with maybe a few power ballads thrown in), you’ll love this one.
