If your idea of the perfect wedding day involves sunshine, happy tears, canapés in the garden, and a bride doing her happy dance – you’re going to love Alice and George’s wedding at Holdsworth House in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
As a Yorkshire wedding photographer, I’m lucky to visit some pretty special venues – and Holdsworth House is right up there. It’s a 17th-century Jacobean manor tucked away on the edge of Halifax, full of charm and character. The stone mullioned windows, historic details and beautiful grounds make it a dream location for relaxed, natural wedding photography.

Nerves, sunshine and a lot of laughter
Alice and George were both a little jittery before the ceremony – full of excitement and nerves. But the moment they saw each other at the end of the aisle, the tension just melted away. From that point on, it was all happy tears, big smiles and real connection – exactly what I love to capture.
Once the “I do”s were done, the sunshine came out and the celebrations properly began. Guests sipped drinks on the lawn, snacked on delicious canapés, and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings while we took a wander through the gardens for a few relaxed couple portraits. No awkward posing – just real moments, and a whole lot of laughter.

That just-married joy
One of my favourite things about photographing weddings is seeing the shift – that moment where the nerves drop and the joy fully kicks in. For Alice and George, that moment came quickly. They were laughing, hugging their guests, and at one point, Alice broke into her signature happy dance – hands in the air, pure joy.
The golden light, the clinking glasses, the smiling faces – it was all the good stuff, and such a joy to be part of.
